From LinkedIn to New York
When Namib Minerals, a mining and mineral export company with operations in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and beyond, brought their leadership team to New York City, they already knew who they wanted for their corporate headshots. They’d seen my work on LinkedIn and wanted that same clean, polished look for their executives.

Expanding the Vision
Initially, the brief was straightforward: headshots for the leadership team. But during our early conversations, Christine and I suggested broadening the scope. We recommended adding contextual environmental portraits and group shots to capture more of the team’s personality and unity, because we knew these images would also be invaluable for the company’s website copy, marketing materials, and investor communications. We also proposed photographing their Nasdaq ceremony the following day, an important milestone that deserved professional, and more personal, coverage. Families were there, friends and colleagues too, making it a moment worth documenting beyond the formality of the event.

Finding the Perfect Location
Because many of the executives were flying in from overseas, location was a key factor. It had to be clean, contemporary, and close to their Manhattan hotels. We combed through dozens of options on Gigster and Peerspace, but most didn’t match the aesthetic we envisioned.
After several scouting trips around Manhattan, we found the ideal venue at 57 West 57th Street—a bright, modern space with natural light and neutral tones, perfectly suited for both formal headshots and environmental portraits.
The Shoot Day
On the day of the shoot, we brought in a digitech, an assistant, and a professional hair and makeup artist to ensure everything ran smoothly. With many of the executives fresh off international flights, our goal was to make the process as seamless and comfortable as possible.
We set up a portable studio for consistency and speed, ensuring every headshot had the same crisp, professional finish. Christine worked with each subject to capture confident, natural expressions, while I handled lighting and composition to maintain a cohesive look.
Once the headshots were complete, we moved into environmental and group portraits, using the venue’s clean lines and bright atmosphere to create images that felt contemporary yet timeless.

The Nasdaq Ceromony
The next day, we joined Namib Minerals at Nasdaq. While the event had the expected corporate formality, the presence of family members, friends, and colleagues added warmth and personality to the occasion. We photographed both the ceremonial moments and the candid interactions—the handshakes, laughter, and embraces—that gave the day its human dimension
