NYC Personal Branding Photoshoot with Daria Shevchenko

Daria is an actor and model based in New York. She came to us for a personal branding session and we decided to shoot on location in Midtown — moving through the neighborhood over the course of an afternoon rather than working from a fixed spot.

Midtown at lunchtime is not an obvious place to shoot portraits. Office crowds, food carts, constant movement. But that energy works for a certain kind of image, and Daria was comfortable in it from the start. We worked in shade where we could find it and moved when the light called for it.

Shooting on the Move

Midtown has enough going on that you're never short of a background. The challenge is using it without it becoming a distraction. We moved through several spots, working quickly between them, keeping Daria's energy consistent as the light changed through the afternoon.
