NYC Lifestyle Photoshoot with Victoria Smith

Victoria is an actor, model and painter based in New York. She needed updated lifestyle images for her agents, so we spent an afternoon working around Chelsea as the light changed.

Working in Chelsea

Victoria’s background as an actor made the session straightforward. She reads direction quickly and can make small adjustments without losing the energy of the photograph. It meant less time explaining and more time working. It almost felt like cheating.

Using the Neighborhood

Chelsea gives you plenty of variety within a relatively small area. There is industrial architecture, open streets and green space near the water.

We started in the late afternoon and had roughly two hours before the light dropped. As the sun moved west, the light became softer, which gave us a useful range of photographs without needing a complicated setup.
